Professor Zizhuo Wang Receives POMS Best Senior Editor Award
Professor Zizhuo Wang, Associate Dean (Education) of the School of Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), has been honoured with the "Best Senior Editor Award" by the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). This award recognises his exceptional contributions as a Senior Editor of the journal Production and Operations Management (POM). In 2023, only seven senior editors were bestowed this honour, with an award rate of just 2%. POMS is a highly influential international academic organisation in the field of production and operations management. POM is a top-tier publication recognised in the UTD24, FT50, and ABS 4-star journal lists, and enjoys significant academic prestige globally.
Professor Wang’s primary research interests include online learning, revenue management, and operations management. He serves as an editor or senior editor for leading international journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, and Production and Operations Management. He has also previously served as an editor for Manufacturing and Service Operations Management. It is noteworthy that few editors from the Chinese mainland universities contribute to these top journals, and it is even rarer to find individuals serving as editors for multiple such journals.
Professor Wang has published over 50 papers in top international journals in the fields of operations research and management science. He has been invited to present at numerous national and international conferences and has received various academic awards. In 2021, he was awarded a project under the Original Exploration Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for his work on "Online Learning and Optimisation Algorithms under Data Scarcity and Model Changes". This project, one of only four approved that year, was the first of its kind for CUHK-Shenzhen and received funding of 2.85 million RMB. In 2023, Professor Wang was involved as a sub-project leader in another major NSFC project, "Mathematical Programming Theory and Methods for Complex Management Decisions", which secured funding of 2.28 million RMB. Additionally, he heads the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Mathematical Foundations for Artificial Intelligence, one of three provincial key laboratories approved for CUHK-Shenzhen in the same year.
POMS Introduction
