iJourney - Tencent Company Visit

On May 24th, the visit to Tencent Corporation, part of the iJourney series organized by the SDS UG Career Team and co-sponsored by the Career Planning and Development Office, was successfully held. Led by Tencent staff, students first explored the exhibition hall, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Tencent's diverse businesses and corporate culture. They were impressed by Tencent's notable achievements in cloud services, fintech, digital content, smart transportation, intelligent manufacturing, and basic research. Students were deeply attracted by Tencent's spirit of innovation and its products and services, learning about the company's "Tech for Good" philosophy aimed at improving the quality of life globally.
Next, the students visited the employee activity area in Tencent Tower, featuring a gym, LIFE living hall, badminton court, ping pong tables, pool tables, a climbing wall, a health consultation room, a mental wellness chamber, a physiotherapy room, and the Tencent Image beverage shop. Here, students experienced Tencent employees’ daily lives and work environments, appreciating the company's corporate culture and the extensive benefits and care extended to employees.
Afterward, the students attended a communication and information exchange meeting in the conference room. The campus recruiter provided a detailed introduction to Tencent's business groups and related job positions, emphasizing key points in resume writing tips. During the subsequent Q&A session, the recruiter patiently addressed students’ queries, providing valuable advice for their job search journey.
In the final part of the event, current Tencent employees and alumni warmly shared their job positions and responsibilities, introduced Tencent's various business directions, and engaged in in-depth discussions about daily work and job-seeking experiences. This segment offered students a clearer understanding of career planning and a direct sense of Tencent's work environment.
Through this visit, students gained a comprehensive understanding of Tencent's corporate culture, business sectors, and office environment, along with a clearer career path and objectives.
