On April 9, the SDS UG Career team once again brought students the third session of the Alumni Talk series. This time, we invited two alumni who were studying in the West Coast of the United States, and they brought us a full range of experiences from studying and living in California.
Ms. Li, who graduated from UC Berkeley and is going to Columbia University to pursue a doctoral degree, she highlighted that her statistics program is a job-oriented program with a relatively optimistic overall employment outlook. In the process of job hunting in North America, she advises students to prepare well, apply promptly, and also to consider accumulate internship experience or participating in an online internship to boost their competitiveness.
Mr. Li, who graduated from UC San Diego, described San Diego as a city with four seasons and extremely comfortable living. He shared his positive experience with the school’s flexible program choices and excellent learning experience. The diverse courses offered him opportunities to think from various perspectives and at a deeper level, which he found highly rewarding. He encouraged students to cherish the experience of studying abroad, focus on personal growth, make long-term plans and maintain a positive mindset.
