International Postdoctoral Fellowship
School of Data Science (SDS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, is inviting applications to the International Postdoctoral Fellowship program (see details below) who will work with one or more SDS faculty member, starting in 2021. An applicant should have strong methodological foundations in one or more of the following areas: Computer Science, Operations Research, Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Management Science, and other closely related areas. We especially encourage individuals whose interests and backgrounds are at the intersection of multiple areas to apply. Applicants should be early-career scientists who have obtained, or are expected to obtain, PhD degrees within the last five years. The duration of the fellowship ranges from one to three years.
About International Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
(1) Each postdoctoral fellow (PDF) is required to find at least two supervisors, one from SDS at CUHK-Shenzhen, and one from a leading university overseas (who may or may not be affiliated with CUHK-Shenzhen). The PDF will spend half time overseas and half time in Shenzhen. The International Postdoctoral Fellowship covers the full cost of the overseas stay, including the salary and medical insurance.
(2) Salaries of PDFs will be comparable with the current international standards. The performance of PDFs will be reviewed annually by the respective school Dean and their salaries adjusted accordingly.
(3) CUHK-Shenzhen should be the main affiliation of the International PDFs when they publish academic papers. The publications should properly acknowledge the support of the International Postdoctoral Fellowship.
All application packages should include:
a. A curriculum vitae (up to two pages)
b. One-page brief biographies of the proposed supervisors (one from overseas, one from CUHK-Shenzhen)
c. A letter of support from the overseas supervisor (stating explicitly a willingness to host and supervise the candidate as a PDF)
d. A brief research plan including specific time for overseas stay (up to one page)
