MSc in Data Science is a joint programme launched by the School of Data Science (SDS) and the School of Management and Economics (SME), in collaboration with Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data (SRIBD) and Shenzhen Finance Institute (SFI). The programme is aimed to equip students with fundamental knowledge as well as skills in big data and business analytics, and provide students with the cutting-edge theories and methods of big data technology, so that our graduates will be able to tackle issues of data capture, storage and analysis in various sectors, including business, government, security, healthcare, biology, science and environment. All courses are taught in English. Programme duration is 24 months (provisional). Alternatively, students may participate in a wide range of industrial internships, research work, world-wide exchange programmes, studying more courses and extend their studies to 36 months. Faculty members from two schools and research institutes will serve as instructors together.

Financial engineering is multidisciplinary, blending knowledge and skills from financial theory, advanced mathematics, modeling, analysis and optimization, programming and implementation, and product development. The duration of study is generally two years, including three semesters in fall, spring and summer (short). If you meet the graduation requirements in advance (30 credits), you can also apply for graduation in one year. Additional repair time is three years. This Programme provides training across a wide spectrum of financial knowledge and applications of quantitative methods to finance. It is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in securities, banking, and financial management and management/strategic consulting, or as quantitative analysts in corporate treasury and finance departments of manufacturing and service firms. Our graduates, equipped with skill sets that span finance, quantitative methods, and computer programming, are highly sought after to meet new challenges in the dynamically changing and rapidly growing Chinese and international financial markets. The placement percentage of our graduates is over 95% for every year. The companies which our graduates are working now include, but not limited to, China International Capital Corporation (CICC), CITIC Group, Morgan Stanley Huaxin Securities, HSBC, ICBC and Huobi.

M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is jointly offered by the School of Data Science and the School of Science and Engineering, CUHK-Shenzhen. The schooling lasts two years and provides two subdivisions for students to choose from: artificial intelligence and robotics. This project relies on the outstanding faculty and scientific research capabilities of the School of Data Science, the Polytechnic Institute of Science and Technology of CUHK-Shenzhen, and the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and aims to cultivate cutting-edge talents in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. Students will master basic theories in the fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, and robotics, and gain in-depth study in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, automation, intelligent systems, and human-computer interaction.

The master programme in Bioinformatics is a joint programme launched by School of Medicine and School of Data Science. This programme serves as a solid foundation in cross-disciplinary learning, creative thinking, practical problem-solving skills, and a keen sense of bioinformatics for the emerging biotechnologies and their future developments. With the well-designed study scheme of this program, students are expected to be well-educated to achieve the forefront of leadership in the fields of bioinformatics and biomedical sciences.
