Biography

Dr. Ziyang Hong is a Research Assistant Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his Ph.D. degree with a focus on localization and mapping for mobile robots at Heriot-Watt University in 2023. Prior to that, he obtained his B.S. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from Shantou University in 2016, and his M.S. degree in Vision and Robotics from Heriot-Watt University in 2018. He also worked as a research assistant in the EU H2020 Marine Robotics Project during his PhD, and a research intern at INRIA, France in 2015.

Dr. Hong’s current research interests include underwater robotics, perception and localization in adverse weather conditions for autonomous robots and robot learning. His work has been published in top journals such as The International Journal of Robotics Research and Robotics and Automation Letters, as well as top conferences such as ICRA, RSS and IROS.
