Assistant Professor
Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences, Northwestern University, 2019
B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, 2014
Professor Haoxiang Yang received his bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2014; he later obtained his PhD degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University in 2019. Professor Yang’s current research interests include optimization under uncertainty, large-scale optimization and decomposition methods, mixed integer programming, and nonlinear optimization, with applications focusing on energy systems, disaster relief and humanitarian aid, public health, air transportation, supply chain, and sports analytics.
Prior to joining CUHK-Shenzhen in Summer 2021, Professor Yang was a Postdoctoral Research Associate of Los Alamos National Laboratory, working on nonlinear optimization under uncertainty models and algorithms for power system contingency analysis, quantum computing, and pandemic control. Professor Yang accumulated a wealth of industrial research experience at Pacific Northwest National Lab, RAND Corporation, and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
