Optimization is crucial for deep learning. In the traditional way, optimization offers efficient training algorithms for deep neural networks. However, actually optimization can also help deep learning in other ways, e.g., effective network design and mathematical explanation. In this talk, I will introduce my recent work in both aspects.

简介：

Zhouchen Lin received the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Peking University in 2000. He is currently a Professor with the National Key Laboratory of General Artificial Intelligence, School of Intelligence Science and Technology, Peking University. His research interests include machine learning and numerical optimization. He has published over 290 technical papers and 5 monographs, receiving over 31,000 Google Scholar citations. He has been Area Chairs of ACML, ACCV, CVPR, ICCV, NIPS/NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, ICLR, and ICML for many times. He is a Program co-Chair of ICPR 2022 and Senior Area Chairs of ICML 2022, NeurIPS 2022, ECAI 2023, CVPR 2023 and ICLR 2024. He is a Fellow of IAPR, IEEE, AAIA, and CSIG. He is also a recipient of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
